My Neighborhood.....

Our apartment, second floor on the end!
 Monday Morning

Front of the apartment complex
A Grandpa and Grandma are visiting a couple of doors down from ours.  The couple have a two year old little boy and both were gone to work leaving the grandparents home.  The Grandpa went out in the parking lot and was working on his truck and suddenly the Grandma yelled to him loudly and in such anguish that the grandson wasn't breathing.  By this time many of our doors flew open, as the Grandpa run up the stairs to the apartment.  He brought him out on the walkway and the little boy was just limp.  At first everyone thought he had choked, but the heimlich was given to no avail. Of course, during all this 911 was called and I was impressed out fast they got here.  The thing that I found out about my neighborhood, that all those doors I could see that opened had people in the doorway with heads bowed in prayer for this little boy.  One tough looking man crossed himself and prayed.  Even people in the next apartment building who heard her joined in.  A man who lives across the street, bounded across and down the stairs to help. And Jim, our apartment manager, was right there, then rushed down to open the door so the medical people could come right in...we are in a locked gate community.
The paramedics came and determined
Looking into the complex from outside our door

                                                                              little boy was breathing and
that he wasn't choking but said he had had a
seizure.  The grandma said that his mother had had
those when she was little, and it seemed to calm     her.   She rode in the ambulance with the little boy.

We know some of our neighbors, most it is just a "hello", I was glad to see how many good people are here and that their first instinct was to pray for a little boy.  Somehow I feel even more safe!!

Elder Medsker wasn't here, he is off working on the painting service project again.
