Temple Grounds in Lights

The temple grounds are covered in lights,
it is beautiful!! They had a choir singing
Saturday through Tuesday, two programs
each evening.  They had a record number
of people come to enjoy the lights and
hearing the singing.  It was all very festive!
We along with several other missionaries
were there on Monday evening, we had
a lot of families come for Family Home
Evening, it was fun to watch the children's
eyes light up.

Tuesday evening it was the Imperial Beach Relief Society Christmas Party.  It was a wonderful
party with a lot of less active sisters there.  We started with appetizers that we all just wandered
around with our plates, trying everything.  It worked great because they gave us time to visit
with each other.  Then we went into the chapel for a beautiful program.  They invited two sisters in
their 80's to sing a duet.  They both use walkers, so they went to the stage with their walkers then were
helped to the stand and when the time came, helped to the pulpit with big smiling faces they harmonized
in a beautiful song...nudging each other and just having fun.  I love those two incredible women!!
Then it was back to the gym and tables with dessert...same thing, we wandered and tasted and
visited!!  A great evening.

One visit that stands out this week was to Jim Brotemarkle.  He is struggling since his wife has
died, he is trying to find his way.  He seemed very glad to see us and again thanked us for the
church's help in his wife's memorial.  As we left, he said he may come and see us at the church,
Elder Medsker told him he would be welcomed.  He invited us to come back, which we will.

Saturday was the Otay Mesa Ward Party....turkey, ham and the works.  Very yummy!!   We had
a great turnout and a good time.  We got to know a couple that the missionaries are teaching, he is
a bit quiet, she was very outgoing.  He opened up after a while and they already knew a few of the
members who live by them.

Our family got together back home for our annual Nativity night at Mike's home tonight and they skyped us so we could watch it.  It was wonderful, I LOVE TECHNOLOGY!!  So good to see those sweet faces we love!!
