Happy New Year!!

January 2013....the years seem to be going very fast now days!!  We rang the new year in quietly, BUT when you live around several apartments complexes we knew when the new year came in and took the celebrating about two hours to settle down.  It was great!!

I went through our mission record book and got everything organized from 2012 and made a list of a few return visits we want to do.  Then turned to the directory of the Otay Mesa Ward went through about the first third and made a list of people in it that we don't know...and so we begin the new year with new adventures!! I am sure all of these people will be excited for a visit!!

First afternoon out....three not home and one had moved!!  However, it is good to find people's addresses during the day, at night it is hard to see the house numbers, if they are even posted in sight...so those not home, we can revisit in the evening and get the right house!!

We made a trip to the Bishop's Storehouse with one of the ward members, it is about a half an hour away.  It is right by the LDS employment agency....he wanted to go in there and as we accompanied him there was one of our sweet Filipino women training to get her office certification with Deseret Industries.  I really haven't known much about the DI, but their training program is incredible. Professional people come to the US and can't do the same work here because they aren't  certified here...the DI helps with a lot of that with  training, classes and language.  I visited with her for a long time, it was great.  When we saw each other on Sunday, we hugged,  it is an instant friendship when you get a chance to talk one on one to members. 

I spent a couple of days down sick....very annoying but read a couple of good books.  Emily and Mike gave us one on Porter Rockwell...it was great...thank you for the gift!  The Elders looked at it longingly, I just smiled and said "after your mission!"  :)

Sunday, Michelle and Jonathan came for a short visit!!!!!!!!  Michelle had come down for a friend's, Elizabeth, 70th birthday celebration at Newport Beach with ALL the trimmings!!   So she took an extra couple of days to come and see us and Jonathan was her "driver"!  So great to have visitors from "the outside world" :)  We had such a great time visiting and showing them around...

P.S. A update on our little neighbor who had the seizures, he had another one, was kept in the hospital for 24 hours and is fine.  They think it was related to the flu that he had.  Happy and smiling again!!
