We are now settled in our "home sweet home"! This setting up an apartment is never ending trip to the the grocery store. We never do remember the basic of the basics. After we arrived and met our mission president and his wonderful wife President Paul and Holly Clayton, we ran to the grocery store to get some milk, cereal, bread and lunch meat...just as we were going to check out Elder Medsker remembered for sandwiches we would need salad dressing. Got everything put away in our first apartment, on Tuesday we planned a few meals and went grocery shopping again.
Wednesday, we experienced our first Zone Conference. It was really good, the energy of the young elders and sisters is wonderful. Elder Zwick and his wife were the visiting Seventy. Good, inspirational talks. On the way home, we realized we didn't have salt and pepper which we needed for dinner, rather than going to the grocery store five miles away, we went to our local McDonalds ordered my fries and extra salt and pepper!!
The following Wednesday, we moved again to an apartment nearer the area we will be serving in. We had Elders on both ends packing us up and then unpacking when we got here. As a thank you I made brownies for the Elders (they like treats!!) and as I took them out of the oven when the timer buzzed, I realized I didn't have a toothpick to make sure they were done....a floss pic works also. We now have toothpicks! We are now here in Imperial Beach just three blocks from the church where we will be working in two of the wards that meet there. Five miles from the Mexican border and three miles from the beach, which we hope to take our morning walks a few times a week.
We have gone to the wards a couple of times, they are two very different wards. Good people in each one, we are looking forward to getting to know them all better.
I LOVE THE STORIES!!! You guys are awesome!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!
