Happy Father's Day!!

A very Happy Father's Day to all the fathers in our lives!!  Some we are related to and others we admire and love because they are a part of our lives, but to all a big THANK YOU for loving us!!!

Jonathan and Janet came down on Thursday evening and stayed until Saturday morning.  So good to see them!!!

Friday morning was low tide so we went down to the beach and walked around.  When the tide is low you can see lots of small crabs all over the rocks in the jetty....found other little tide pool creatures I had not seen before!!  Very fun!!  They all got tired before I did :)


We walked out of the pier for lunch at the Tin Fish...yummy halibut and chips.

Then we went to Old Town and looked around at the museums and little stores.  Then went to the Mormon Battalion where they had a Flag Day celebration.  They were honoring different groups in the military from years before, one of course being the Mormon Battalion, the only religious battalion to serve in the US Army.  They had a Marine Corp Band there...at first they were going to send four or five men but when they saw the program, they sent the whole band!  Because of the Military Missionaries that serve the LDS marines, the Mormon Battalion has a good relationship with them.  They played background music and a couple of patriotic songs that gave me the chills!!  It was a good program.

We along with Elder Bittner took Elder Richie to the airport Monday morning.  He was excited his visa had come through and was glad to get on his way to Brazil.  Elder Bittner stayed with the Imperial Beach Elders, they live two apartments from each other,  until Wednesday when they had transfer day and he got a new companion...he is also a visa waiter...he is going to Australia....Elder Einereo of Samoa Hawaiian descent from Mesa, Arizona.  He is a friendly, happy Elder.  We are excited to work with him.

We went with the missionaries to visit with Betty, they are giving her the new member lessons.  The lessons are a review of what they were taught and to answer any questions they have.  She now has visiting teachers and is looking forward to having them come.  She said one of the things she really likes about the church is that the children are allowed in Sacrament Meeting.  She said all other churches she has been to, they have the children go to classes while the adults meet.  She likes the importance we put on families.  She is so happy that she was baptized.

We have two families that with the help of the missionaries have become active again.  It is good to see them in church and everyone reaching out to them.  Things like that make us all very happy!!  The Silvas we have visited quite a few times, great family.  We told the Elders that they had a son who needed to be baptized, so the Elders went over and met them and threw the football around with the son.  With the parents permission they challenged him to be baptized  and he was all excited, he could remember going to church when he was little.   So the family is now coming back to church.  Love these children who set examples for their families!!
