The Incredible Gospel

We have missed the last couple of Senior Couple Family Home Evenings, so we were excited to go on Monday evening and see everyone.  We had a pot luck dinner and spent the evening visiting with each other.  Two couples bore their testimonies, who are going home this month...there have been a lot of changes in the last few months.  We serve with some wonderful fun couples.

Tuesday, we went back to the temple after it had been closed for two weeks
for cleaning.  It was so good to be back and many others felt the same way because the temple was very busy!! Tuesday is our mission's prep day, so we always have missionaries there and we saw four of the six that live here in our complex.  Always fun to see them at the temple.  We also had a lot of people visiting from Utah, vacationing here during Spring Break.  The baptistry was also busy with youth from here (our break also) and Utah.

Tuesday evening, we went to dinner with Le and Deanne Spencer who were in town.  So good to visit with them, Elder Medsker joined us for most of the dinner then had to leave for Bishopric meeting.  The rest of us visited for a while, 
we shared memories of Ed, my brother and Deanne's father who passed away, and shed a few tears.

My cousin Kathy Summer Kuni and her husband Arlin were in San Diego on vacation and called.  They came down and we walked out on the pier and ate lunch at the Tin Fish.  We showed them a few of our favorite spots in Imperial Beach.  So great to have a big extended family!!

Thursday we were visiting and got to visit with Isaac Silva, we have talked with his wife a couple of times and he didn't join us.  He had just come home and was still in the driveway with his son from Little League, they had been to his son's ball game where he is the coach with his son's team.  They were just leaving again, but we had a great short visit with him...so glad we got to meet him!!  He is a great guy...

We also met James Nelson, another short visit, he was on a long distance telephone call.  After we introduced ourselves, he said he hadn't been to church for a long time.  He invited us to come back and visit with him, seemed like a good man, we will visit him again.  We also found some not home and one who wasn't interested.  But we got to visit with two members...we like that!!

Friday we went with the Missionaries to teach BJ and Aurora again.  Aurora was really listening and asking questions.  She confessed she had really done some bad things and we could tell she felt she couldn't really go forward.  The missionaries explained no matter how bad of things she had done, she could be forgiven.  They told her about Alma the Younger.  She was visually moved with that little seed of hope.  I am sure she will think on it and that hope will grow.  She really enjoyed going to church. She said she felt something different when the missionaries came and when she was at church and she liked that feeling.  I have thought about her quite a bit, when you have had the gospel all your life, sometimes you forget how incredible it is to be able to repent and not be weighed down by past sins.  This gospel is indeed remarkable.

Wasn't General Conference incredible...so many great inspiring talks.  It just lifts me up and gets me focusing again on the important things in life.  I am looking forward being able to read the talks...there are some I need to read carefully as I look inwardly.  I think I stood in awe that I was listening to actual prophets and apostles more this time, maybe because I am bearing testimony of them more.

After conference, we were invited to Claude and June Hickens for dinner.  He is the High Priest Group leader in the Imperial Beach Ward.  A great very active couple, was good to visit with them.
