Family and a Busy Weekend!!

We spent Monday evening with Deanne, Shelly and Branden!!  Lots of hugs!!  We walked out to the end of the pier and had dinner at the Tin Fish.  While we were waiting for dinner, we watched some dolphins!

So great to get caught up with their families and just visit.  Then we drove to Cold Stone for an ice cream treat...yummy!!

Wednesday, we took dinner into the McDormans who just welcome a baby boy into their family.
They have a set of twins who are almost 5, another set of twins who are 2....five under five!! 

Our computer has been down all week.  It froze with a warning from the FBI that we had downloaded illegal files and  we were to go to a store and buy a paypal (or something like that) for $200 to pay the fine,  enter the numbers from the paypal in a box on the screen.  Very official looking seal...the tech at Staples had not seen that one.  It managed to get embed in all our files, luckily they were able to clean them and save them. Then they erased everything on the computer and we started over.  Luckily, he was great and helped us download a lot of files on it.

Our busy weekend started by working at the Temple Grounds.  We talked with quite a few people, almost all were there waiting for weddings.  They had 31 weddings and sealings....a big busy happy day!!!

On the way home we went to Otay Mesa Ward summer party.  It was in a park right on the San Diego Bay....beautiful area.  We had a good attendance. They played some old fashion games....watermelon eating contest, pie eating contest and egg tossing.  Bishop Carter and our Relief Society President, Sister Ariaza really got into a competition....it was so fun to watch.  Lots of good food and company!!

Sunday morning we left at 8:35am and got home at 8:35pm.....a long wonderful day!!  We attended our two wards...Otay Mesa meets at 1pm and on the last Sunday of the month, we have a linger longer potluck.  It was fun, today we had chili and cornbread.

Then it was off to a special fireside with Elder Russell Ballard.  It was a missionary fireside, where investigators were invited to come and hear an Apostle talk.  We invited Kathy and Jesse Gomez and their eight year old granddaughter whom they are raising.  They were some of the first people we met here and we really liked them, they use to be very active, but have let other things get in the way.  Their farm is where we go down and buy the strawberries all the time.  We have been visiting with them over the months.  We were so excited that they agreed to come with us.  Our Mission President, President Clayton conducted the meeting, he then had his wife (who is President Ballard's daughter) introduce her father.  When she stood, she was laughing and told us Elder Ballard had lean over to her and said "now behave".  When he stood up, he said he was glad she was still obedient...that endeared him to us immediately.  It is hard to put into words how incredible the evening was as he talked of the pre-existence, earth life and life after death, story after story.  So skillfully done with the spirit confirming his words, especially when he bore testimony of being an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ.  The closing song was "I Am a Child of God".  Mea, the granddaughter, didn't know the words, so Elder Medsker found it on the i-pad and handed it to her and she started singing, as did our hearts.  As we drove home, we could tell Jesse and Kathy had really been touched.  Elder Medsker said to Jesse when we got home, "We hope to see you in church Sunday".  He answered, "Don't be surprised if we are".  Maybe the fireside was just what they needed. We will sure be praying this week.
