I never thought much about having to take care of palm trees until we moved down here. As the fronds dry out and die, they just hang on the tree until cut down. This man climbs up the tree with a chain saw and cuts the fonds off...you can see they cut them back quite a bit. It doesn't take long for them to fill in. Another way they can be cut back is by using a cherry picker, very tall ones!!
If you don't trim, Your tree looks like this.....
We have been visiting this week...documenting those who have moved, happens a lot down here, finding a few home and visited with them, others not home, so put them back on the list. However, the fourth time back at one home, we found out Sister Aviles lives in an apartment in the back of her home! Her son and his wife live in the front, glad we found them home to find where she was!! What an delightful young 81 year old woman. We had a great visit and among other things she told us she does caretaking for old people...old?? I bet some of them are younger than her!!
We have a sad note...Britt Brotemarkle passed away in her sleep Friday night. She is the one who has been inactive for years and we visited, and she came to the Relief Society Fall Social and had such a good time. Her husband said she had just gotten back after visiting with her son in Minnesota and his family a few days ago. When it was announced in Relief Society today and there was a collective sigh...we felt we had just found her and ............ We will go over and visit her husband in a few weeks and check on him.
We had a fun end to the Sabbath Day, our family got together back home for dinner and skyped us!! It was so fun to see them all together and visit with them!! The grandchildren are growing up and getting more beautiful!! What an incredible support group!!
