These birds are Marbled Godwits...they are my favorite beach birds to watch. They scurry about so fast probing for small crabs, etc. as the tide comes in. We went for our walk a littler earlier than usual and there were so many of them, just lined the beach for a couple of blocks...must have been a "crab fest".
After attending our first ward block this morning, I came home to grab a sandwich before heading back for the second block...Elder Medsker had to stay for the next ward's Ward Council. As I was sitting at the table, suddenly my chair started to have a slight moving sensation...my first California earth quake!! About an hour later sitting in Sacrament Meeting, it happened again...everyone was looking around and we noticed the lights hanging from the ceiling were moving slightly. Brother Woolstenhulme, who was conducting, later closed the meeting by saying, "things like this are a good reminder that this week we need to check our emergency supplies."
This week we were able to be of service to Sister Gracie Ray who need to go to a dental clinic in San Diego for dental surgery. It took most of the afternoon before we got her back home. She has lost her home and her job..has many problems. At least, she was able to move in with her mother. Your heart just goes out to people like her...tough times.
We went with the missionaries and met Danny and Denise Mounce...both are in the Navy. Great people, she is a member and he is almost there. He has had a hard time keeping an interest in the Book of Mormon, so the missionaries are reading it with him. We had some great discussions as we read three chapters. I really like them....delightful couple. They come to church each week...good sign.
